Editor, ElectrifyTips

Sam Carter is the editor of ElectrifyTips, based in California. He researches heat pumps, home energy rebates and electricity costs, and turns what he finds into plain-English guides and free calculators for US homeowners.

What Sam covers

  • Heat pumps: what they cost, how they compare with furnaces and air conditioners, sizing, efficiency ratings, maintenance and common problems.
  • Rebates and incentives: which programs are open, closed or coming soon, with a link to each official program page.
  • Running costs: what heating and cooling cost at real electricity, gas and propane prices.

How Sam researches

Every guide starts from primary sources: official program pages, government agencies such as the US Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, the IRS and the US Energy Information Administration, state energy offices, utilities and manufacturer specification sheets.

Each guide lists its sources. Cost and rebate figures show where they come from and when they were checked. Pages about costs, rebates and rates are reviewed at least every 3 to 6 months, and sooner when a program or law changes.

AI tools may help with research, outlines and first drafts. Sam checks every fact against its source, rewrites the article and is responsible for what is published.

What Sam doesn't do

  • Sam is not a licensed contractor or tax advisor. Guides tell you when to get a professional quote or ask a tax professional.
  • He doesn't claim to have tested a product unless an article clearly says so. Product comparisons use manufacturer specifications, official certifications and published reviews.
  • He doesn't invent experts, reviewers or quotes.
